Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)
Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) is a healing oriented transformational therapy that supports a more focused intention to reacquaint oneself through the integration of interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, emotion theory and affective neuroscience, body-focused approaches and transformational studies.
AEDP understands the healing power of neuroplasticity and promotes the innate healing capacities and expansion of our own internal process. The practice of "undoing aloneness" through relational connectedness, allows old experiences to transform, creating greater perspective, more meaning, and a reawakening of who we truly are. AEDP principles were designed to help individuals find peace and acceptance, not only within themselves, but also in their relationships with others.
What most interested me in AEDP, was the importance of the therapeutic relationship, the language of connection, and the unwavering acknowledgment of a person's ability to heal and grow through the attachment-bonding of self-awareness and self-agency.
